Repent America, Repent…

February 21, 2013

We, as Americans, are in the top 10% of the wealthiest people to ever walk the face of the earth. Of the many billions of people who have come and gone before us, they had nothing compared to what we have today. We have more money available to us than a few billion other people currently occupying this planet do. We have opportunities available to us that 90% of all the people who have ever lived only wished they had access to. Instead of being grateful, we spend all of our time comparing ourselves to those few people who have more than us, instead of looking at those billions of people who have less. We spend too much of our time complaining, instead of being productive and building better lives for ourselves. We spend too much time watching TV instead of seeking out knowledge and acquiring more or better skills. We let others grow our food, then complain about how they do it. We let ourselves be distracted from important issues by following after trivial pursuits. We are poor students of our own history and founding documents. We say we “deserve” jobs, free healthcare and a host of other entitlements paid for by someone else’s labor. But, the truth is we deserve none of it. History will judge us very poorly for the society we have become.  We can not speak our language properly. We can not smoke a ham or run a nuclear reactor, someone else has to do it for us. We have squandered our heritage and forfeited our birthright. We have become worth less or worthless, whichever you prefer to use, as a country compared to who we used to be.

We may be the wealthiest people to ever walk this land, but we have also become the most bankrupt. We have become morally bankrupt. We must repent and turn back toward God and once again become a God fearing nation if we are to exist much longer. We have replaced God’s Laws with our own foolish ones.  We must get back to being and living like the people who built this nation and nurture it as they once did. We need to be good friends, good neighbors and good citizens. We need to remember what President Kennedy told us, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”. We must stop expecting the government to right all of our wrongs. We need to not be a burden to others and expect them to pay for our poor choices. We need to stop holding our hands out waiting for the government to give us something. We must stop expecting the government to take from someone else just so that they can give it to us. Not only in the form of welfare checks but Social Security checks as well. Being born does not entitle you to other people’s money. No one “earned” a SS benefit. We all pay in a paltry sum of money and expect to be paid back 5 or 10 fold. If you want that kind of return you better invest in oil companies. If we want to get our country back on the right track, both morally and fiscally, we must get the government out of our lives. We must make it our servant, not our master. The founders warned us of this and I will repeat their warning and sound the alarms. We have allowed the government, and the people running our government to be our masters and our gods. Repent America, repent…
